Dear Delegates and Alternate Delegates,
I am Sarah C. Nosal, MD, FAAFP, and I am proud to be a family physician. Thank you for this opportunity to lead, listen and learn as an AAFP director elected by you in 2021, advocating for the issues critical to the future of family medicine.
As a family physician with a career deeply rooted in addressing inequities in health care, I continue to care for patients of all ages and all genders, as I have done for nearly two decades, at a small FQHC, one stop away from Yankee Stadium. Next year I will fulfill a quarter of a century of service — helping run and supervise our student-run free clinic in the South Bronx. Guiding teams, from our small rural clinic co-located with a critical access hospital, to our large flagship residency site in the heart of Harlem, has given breadth and depth to my understanding of all that we can do and must do so that family medicine may thrive.
Thank you for your willingness to serve your chapter and national academies, and thank you for your vote of confidence as we shape the future of family medicine together.
For your thoughtful consideration,
Sarah C. Nosal, MD, FAAFP for AAFP President-Elect
