Nearly 20 years ago when I first arrived at the COD, I knew immediately that I wanted to be a part of the Academy’s leadership and run for the Board. The time is finally right for me, and I am now more prepared to be an effective and measured advocate for our members and the patients we serve.
My interests and passions will allow me to bring representation to the Board table for
members who practice in rural areas,
members who remain small business owners,
patients and communities who struggle with substance use disorder, and
efforts of the Academy focused on CME and lifelong learning.
As I write this, I am thinking of the troubled letter I just received from my 20-year-old son as he was in the first week of Marine Corps basic training. I understand my role is to reassure him that he is capable of doing hard things and that his struggles will translate to preparedness for service. In some ways, that is our role as family medicine leaders, too. I am Mock from Maine, family medicine to the core. I look forward to earning your vote.
