Share Your Expertise at the 2027 Residency Leadership Summit

 

Proposal submissions are now open for the 2027 Residency Leadership Summit, March 3–5, 2027, in Dallas. Submit a workshop, showcase, or discussion topic and share innovative ideas, practical solutions and lessons learned with family medicine residency leaders from across the country.

New Interview Guidelines for the Match process

 

The AAFP’s Residency Selection Improvement Initiative (RSII) is working to make it easier for programs and applicants to connect, with a focus on improving the Match experience and helping both sides find the right fit. The first explainer focuses on interviews, outlining six practical ways to make the process smoother and more useful for both programs and applicants. Additional guidance across the other four initiatives is coming soon.

Advocacy Update

Preparing for changes to federal student loans

New changes to federal student loan borrowing and repayment are being implemented through Reimagining and Improving Student Debt Education (RISE) under H.R. 1. These updates may affect recruitment and introduce new financial challenges for residents.

Share Your Work at FMX 2026

 

Have a case study or research project in progress? FMX, the AAFP’s annual Family Medicine Experience conference, is a great place to get it in front of peers from across the specialty. Submitting a poster is an easy way to grow your CV, spark conversations and gain visibility in the field. Standout submissions may be chosen for presentation, and certain lifestyle medicine projects may be eligible for scholarship funding.

Oral History Grant: Help Preserve Family Medicine’s Story

 

Interested in research, storytelling, or the people and moments that have shaped family medicine? The Center for the History of Family Medicine (CHFM), the AAFP Foundation’s hub for preserving the specialty’s legacy, offers an Oral History Grant of up to $3,000 to support projects that capture firsthand voices and experiences from across the field.

 

Applications open July 1 and close September 15. Consider applying or pass it along to a colleague who might be a great fit.
