This month’s updates include the launch of the redesigned AAFP.org, transition-to-practice resources for PGY-3s and reminders to help residents stay connected after graduation.

Now Open: 2026 AAFP Residency Census

The 2026 AAFP Residency Census is now open in the AAFP Program Management Tool and will remain open through July 17.

The data you provide helps shape how the AAFP supports residency programs and provides insight on the family physician workforce. Plus, be sure to enroll residents in AAFP membership—connecting your residents to a community of 124,000+ and resources for every step of their journey.

Residency Program Resources Have a New Home

As part of the new AAFP.org launch this month, residency program resources, including the Program Management Tool (formerly known as the portal), are now centralized in the Residency Program Directors & Coordinators hub, giving you one place to access the educational resources and operational tools you use most.

The new, mobile-first AAFP.org features simpler navigation, improved search and a more streamlined MyAccount experience.

Help PGY-3s Stay Connected

As residents transition to practice, contact information can quickly become outdated. Encourage your PGY-3s to update their information so they continue receiving important resources. Residents who do this by Sept. 1 will receive a $10 gift card and be entered to win one of 300 stethoscopes.

Consultant’s Corner

Receiving an ACGME institutional letter with multiple citations—especially one resulting in Continued Accreditation with Warning—can feel overwhelming, particularly for DIOs experiencing the institutional review process for the first time.

As formal reviews and site visits become more common, RPS consultants can help by:

  • Reviewing the ACGME letter and institutional documentation

  • Meeting with the DIO, GMEC members and institutional leadership

  • Developing a focused action plan to address citations and root causes
